About this place
Located on the 2nd floor of a building along Akabane's bustling Ichibangai, Miyazakiya centers its menu around charcoal-grilled chicken thigh seared swiftly over intense heat. Imbued with a rich wood-smoke aroma, the meat offers a firm, satisfying chew that releases concentrated juices with every bite. Adding a dab of piquant yuzukosho citrus-chili paste brings a sharp contrast that naturally beckons the next sip of shochu.
Chicken nanban is another essential order, featuring substantial cuts of chicken bathed in generous helpings of mellow tartar sauce. The chicken lineup extends well beyond the classics, offering plate-style grilled offal and skin served unskewered in the Miyazaki tradition, alongside lightly seared, clean-tasting local chicken tataki.
Between chicken courses, seafood provides a welcome change of pace, whether in the form of seasoned horse mackerel namerou or an assortment of seasonal sashimi. Drink choices lean heavily into regional flair, including Miyazaki's sweet potato shochu Kobiki Blue served with soda, a refreshing Hyuganatsu citrus sour, and cocktails blended with the nostalgic dairy beverage Skal.
Clean and brightly lit, the interior offers both counter and table seating. It provides a comfortable, unpretentious setting that works just as smoothly for a casual solo drink after work as it does for an evening conversation with friends.
